Advising Services
College Initiative provides guidance and resources to help students and families navigate the college search and admissions process.
All services are designed to make the process stress-free, organized, and accessible, regardless of the student’s location. Consultations can be online via Zoom, Skype, or telephone.
An initial, 20-minute phone call is complimentary.
College Initiative aims to make the college search and admissions process as stress-free and as straightforward as possible for you and your student and offers a variety of services to fit your needs. Whether your student is a freshman or a senior, contact us!
College List Compilation:
- Conversation with parents/student (together or separately, according to preference)
- Test planning and score review
- Transcript review
- Extracurricular Involvement review
- Discussion of potential majors of interest, including interest surveys
- Information summarized on costs, campus size, potential financial aid/scholarships, interview requirements, and detailed school descriptions
Other Services (by the hour):
- Academic planning – course scheduling support and SAT/ACT planning
- College Application Support
- Activities List Review
- Essay Brainstorming and/or Review
- Interview Preparation
- Special Situations – Waitlist or Deferral guidance, school disciplinary action guidance, etc.

College Chats (Locally):
College Initiative is happy to provide resources for group discussions about the college search and admissions experience. These sessions can be customized for small groups such as:
- neighborhood or parent group
- PTA
- school club
Preparing for Your First Consultation
Families can get the most value by having the following information available:
- Any standardized test scores – PLAN, PSAT, SAT, ACT
- High school transcript (unofficial is fine)
- List of extracurriculars/sports and any associated awards
- Any questionnaires/surveys requested
- Preliminary list of schools that are of interest (if any yet)
